We are proud to be part of the newly launched strategic project EastGateH2V, officially kicked off in Košice. This project, unique not only in Slovakia but also in the surrounding region, represents a major step forward in building a hydrogen economy and developing a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem in our region.

The EastGateH2V project brings together 22 partners from 7 European countries under the coordination of Košice Self-Governing Region, aiming to develop the production, distribution, and use of green hydrogen — from hydrogen buses to drones and boats. Thanks to €9 million in funding from the Horizon Europe programme, Košice Region and its partners, including IIC, have positioned themselves as leaders in hydrogen technologies in Central and Eastern Europe.

IIC will actively support innovation activities and partnerships in the fields of energy, transport, and industry, with a major ambition to create cross-border hydrogen corridors and contribute to the development of a connected European hydrogen infrastructure.

This project is also a key milestone in supporting the REPowerEU strategy and the decarbonization of European industry, transport, and energy sectors.

What the project will deliver:

✅ Annual production of 170 tonnes of green hydrogen (from 2027)
✅ Hydrogen-powered buses, boats, drones, and waste trucks
✅ Establishment of hydrogen refueling stations
✅ Studies and proposals for transforming natural gas pipelines into hydrogen pipelines
✅ Strengthening of international cooperation in hydrogen technologies

We are excited that IIC is part of this ambitious initiative and look forward to strong collaboration with partners across the region.
